What you will learn

Upon completing this course you will have the skills to:

  • Identify the importance of efficient communication between ground personnel and cockpit crew
  • Repeat arm and hand signals during maneuvering of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) around the aircraft
  • Translate key message into industry standard signals for safe and effective communications during aircraft movements at the ramp area

  • Guide person hand signals for GSE
  • Aircraft movement hand signals for headset operator
  • Aircraft movement hand signals for wingwalker, headset operator/tug driver
  • Marshalling hand signals for aircraft
  • Technical/servicing hand signals–ground staff to flight crew
  • Technical/servicing hand signals–flight crew to ground staff

Certificate awarded

Upon successful completion of the exam/assessment, you will be awarded a Certificate that you can print for your records.

  • Delivery method: Unsupervised online-based exam. Assessment can be taken at any time at your convenience.
  • Format: 15 multiple-choice questions
  • Time allowance: 30 minutes
  • Passing grade: 80% correct answers
  • Distinction: 90% correct answers
  • Number of exam/assessment attempts: 3

Important note: The exam/assessment should be accessed after you have completed the course module. Once you have started the assessment you can no longer access the course module.
